What is School in Hospital Program(SDH)
SDH provides structured education to children undergoing long-term or repeated hospital treatment, ensuring they don’t fall behind in school.
Introduction to Best School in Hospital
The School in Hospital (SDH) is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health Malaysia to support students who miss school due to long-term or repeated hospital stays. SDH offers structured and flexible learning tailored to the health conditions and capabilities of these students, using fun and engaging teaching methods. Teachers act as facilitators to ensure continuous learning outside the conventional classroom setting. The program, adapted from Australia’s Hospital School model, is managed by the Special Education Division (BPKhas). Since its launch in 2011, 19 SDH centers have been established nationwide with strong support from NGOs and corporate sponsors.
